'16, '17 Race Highlights

SEason Brief

The '17 season started out with a diverse and demanding set of races.  At the 3 days moab transrockies stage race, i pulled in 3 ag.  Then, an april 12 hour at 10,500' new mexico, landed me in 2nd.  My may race, the grand junction off road 43 mile almost pure singletrack set me in 3rd in the 45+ ag.  I felt strong and focused on the technical xc endurance course that I love.

Soon after the GJ, I realized an old quad contusion injury wasn't improving.  I was thrown into an unexpected 4 month hiatus from racing while trying to negotiate how to heal and get back training. hanging on to a quad injury from '16, I  pushed through a rigorous ski season right into a packed bike season.....but that didn't work.  AFter building a team of docs and chiropractors, healers and acupuncturists, etc., I slowly rebuilt my thigh and hip, and came back in october to take top step in the Rocky Mountain Regional Championships, in vail.

in the non racing arena, i had the chance to get involved with yeti vida's programs, increasing female presence on mountain bikes.  that exposure has enriched my coaching, my perspective on the benefits of womens in sports, and awakened me to the tenacity of this new generation of women growing up in a world with so much uncertainty.  what is necessary is cross generational interaction, and cross industry engagement.

after a dynamic back country ski exploring, I'm on schedule for another total hip replacement.  It'll be a season of learning and growing in a supportive role, healing with new modalities and prepping for ski season.  I've established a comfort level with the 12-24 hour and stage/multi day formats.  I intend to keep the '19 goals simple and clear, retaining my ultra endurance racing schedule and doing what I love, exploring, on bikes and skis; and through my coaching, helping other people find their thriving health so they can find the simplicity and safety in that beauty.
